FACES AND FEATURE
Michael Mentler
Course Description
The focus here will be on the correct rendering of heads, features and faces. You will work from live models to develop a more precise understanding of the structure of the head and each individual feature. The eye, nose, mouth and ear will be dealt with in detail as well as how the planes of the head are revealed through light and shade. Michael will go beneath the surface to demonstrate how the muscles of the face create expression. If you intend to draw believable portraits you have to know the basic structure and proportions of the head and face, in general, and the relationship of the features to each individual face.  Beauty is more than skin deep and seeing like an artist involves knowing what to look for and where to find it.
