| Course Description |
| This workshop involves the exploration of encaustic, one of the most exciting and versatile mediums available to the contemporary artist. With an emphasis on mixed-media, the basics are covered as well as a variety of advanced techniques. In addition to encaustic, participants will also explore the mark-making possibilities of branding, rust printing and composting and are encouraged to respond to these marks utilizing encaustic as well as other media. Participants are encouraged to develop a personal vocabulary by applying these new techniques to their current ideas and methodologies.

Lorraine Glessner has an MFA in Fibers from Temple University Tyler School of Art, a BS in Textile Design from Philadelphia University, and an Associate Degree in Computer Graphics from Moore College of Art and Design. Recent awards include a Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Artist Fellowship and Anne K. Allison Award. Recent exhibitions include a Solo Show at St. Asaph’s Gallery, Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania; Fiberart International, Pittsburgh; and New Faces Juried Exhibition, Philadelphia. Her work is included in Mixed Media Collage by Hollie Harrison, and the September 2007 issue of Fiberarts Magazine.
