Marcia Selsor
Course Description
Marcia Selsor will conduct a weekend hands on workshop constructing a door surround for the Center for the Arts. Techniques will cover mold making/design, sprigging, extruded patterns and manipulation as well as forming large-scale slabs. Participants will be asked to contribute design motifs that can co-exist within the scheme. Firing and installation will occur after the workshop. Selsor will lecture Friday night on her work, worldwide travels and inspirations from historical architecture.
Instructor
Marcia Selsor studied ceramics with Bill Daley and Paula Winokur at the Philadelphia University of the Arts and recieved an MFA from SIU Carbondale, Ill. She taught ceramics at Montana State University for 25 years. Recently she moved to Brownsville, Texas. Currently she is the President of the Potters Council of the American Ceramics Society. Her work is in public and private collections on three continents.
